We want you to join us, so grab your camera or phone and capture those playful, nature-filled moments with your pets for the chance to win.

Jessica McGovern FSWPP FBIPP

Jessica is a multi-award-winning photographer living in Dumfries & Galloway with her four dogs.

She started photography with her first camera when she was 14, and did her first paid session at 16, starting her own small business.

She now has 18 published photography titles to date and teaches other photographers from all around the world, working in some of the most beautiful locations with lots of amazing subjects.

"I’m very excited to see your photographs in this competition!"

Emma Pope Fine Art Photographer

Emma is a pet photographer who has won several prestigious awards, including The Guild Of Photographers Pet Photographer Of The Year 2023.

In 2020, amid the pandemic, Emma discovered a new passion for photography.

Documenting the daily walks with my Miniature Dachshund Levi not only brought joy during uncertain times but also ignited a deep love for creating art with pet photography.

Above all, the most important aspect for her is to have fun enjoy the process!

Kerry Jordan from Fur and Fables Photography

Serial dog cuddler, whippet enthusiast, and a keen fell walker (although her lack of direction has led her on lots of adventures), Kerry started photography in 2009 as a hobby.

After a few years of experimenting with weddings, food, events and families, the hobby turned into a business.
When she started sharing photography of her own dogs, she was amazed that people then asked her for pet photoshoots – she didn’t even know that was a thing!

Kerry now specialises in commercial pet photography and spends her time travelling round the UK with her two whippets, Bertie & Shadow, creating high-end images for pet brands.

Our judges' top tips

Kerry says - "The right light can really transform an image. Try getting out early or during Golden Hour (the hour before sunset), when the light really softens."

Jessica says - "My top tip for creating the best photographs is, oddly, simplicity. Try to keep the scene quite simple if you can to let the subject (animal) really shine. Never let the animals get worried or stressed, so keep photo taking super short with lots of fun rewards throughout."

Emma says - "When aiming to capture action shots, it’s crucial to have a good understanding of what motivates the animal you are working with. For example, my Wirehaired Dachshund, Walter adores chasing his ball, which makes it the perfect opportunity to capture dynamic and action-packed running shots. It’s important to keep in mind that not all animals are motivated by toys; for some, it may be food, the presence of their owner. By identifying what brings joy to your subject, you can create an enjoyable experience that will bring out their vibrant and unique personality in the photos."
